Painting professionally for nearly 20 years, Karen Green has exhibited in solo and
shared exhibitions in Bristol, Stroud and Cheltenham. Her studio, just outside
Stroud, is opened regularly to visitors with the annual SITE Open Studios Festival.
She began teaching seven years ago, across Gloucestershire, including regular
workshops at Pegasus Art, for whom she has written several articles on painting
botanically. She loves sharing her passion for plants and flowers; how we as
humans are interwoven with the natural world, through medicine, folklore, religion
and symbolism. Working from the fundamentals of the science and techniques of
botanical illustration, Karen is currently exploring the themes of motherhood,
fertility and the language of flowers to create her watercolour paintings.
Karen’s painting Botanical Womb was used on the front cover of a book by Leo
Kalovynas ‘Mother of Zero Children’ exploring the pressure on Greek women to
have children.
Her artwork featured in November 2020 edition of Period Living magazine.
