Seascapes with Ink and Rollers with Alice Pascall

Course Description
We are very pleased to have talented artist Alice Pascall join our bunch of fab tutors to run an exciting workshop that will engage students on a new art journey working with vibrant relief inks and durathene rollers to produce intoxicating energetic seascape paintings.
Alice will start the day with a description of her specific and effective way of painting, going through some of her own paintings to allow you to understand the marks that can be made and how the tools and medium can be used. She will talk through composition and putting together the story of the painting. Your tools for the day will be specialist rollers, silicone colour shapers, and palette knives. Alice usually only uses a brush to sign her work so even the most experienced artist should have something new to learn, and the least experienced will easily engage with the joy and ease of the technique.
The day will be broken into 3-4 periods of demonstration and will cover how to apply the sky in ink, followed by the sea, and finally the addition of the more detailed aspects of the land in oils with a palette knife. You will get the opportunity to ‘play’ with these new roller and mark-making techniques before you apply them to your final piece. Students will be guided carefully through the process, so they will feel in safe hands and fully engaged with each stage.
Alice respects each student’s need for different levels of support and will follow their lead as the day goes along.
