Plein air in Oil or Acrylic – A two day Course with Jenny Aitken

Course Description

Plein air in oils (or acrylics) with award-winning artist Jenny Aitken. Come and paint in the grounds of Cornwall School of Art, with beautiful subjects in abundance – rolling fields, woods, Cornish hedgerows, and more formal gardens bursting with flowers. We’ll focus on creative composition, colour mixing, brushwork skills and atmospheric lighting. Jenny will give a full demo each day, and spend the rest of the time individually teaching. Her aim is always to teach all she knows, encourage you in your own style and make the entire time full and fun!

PLEASE NOTE: This two-day workshop will combine time in the studio and outside. Please bring appropriate shoes and all-weather clothes. If in the unlikely event that it rains continuously, it will be studio based. Easels and painting stools for outdoor use will be supplied if you don’t have your own.

Jenny Aitken is an award-winning painter and regular visitor to Cornwall, she has worked and exhibited here for the last twenty years. She runs demos and painting workshops around the country and is a guest writer for The Artist magazine. As a seasoned tutor her passion for painting is well known, as is her encouraging and informative teaching style. This two-day workshop is suitable for beginners to regular painters who would learn how to construct a painting in order to best tell the visual story – how to begin and methodically work through to a successful conclusion.
