
A Beginner’s Guide to Watercolour with Kaye Parmenter

Course Description
Kaye is excited to share some tips and techniques to help you fall in love with the fabulous medium of watercolour. You will be painting lots of small pieces, each aimed at covering a particular aspect of watercolour that will help you understand the basics.
Often watercolour is stated as one of the hardest mediums to paint with but, at the same time, it can be exciting and very rewarding! This day long course will encourage students to be bold with colour and try and let .go a bit with some wet-in-wet techniques.
Kaye aims to make her workshops fun and relaxed lots of tips along the way.
Hopefully the skills that you pick up on the day will entice you to explore further with other subjects.
Kaye is a professional associate member of The Society of All Artists and is also a featured artist for Daler Rowney. Her work has been exhibited in the Members area at The Queens Club, London and her work is collected internationally

Artist’s quality tube watercolours in the following colours:
- Ultramarine Blue
- Alizarin Crimson
- Lemon Yellow
- Raw Sienna
- Burnt Sienna
Saunders Waterford, 300gsm, NOT, High White watercolour paper.
You will be working on lots of little projects, somewhere in the region of 10 A4 sheets would be suitable. Truro Arts Shop sell A1 sheets that you can cut down.
Watercolour brushes including a number 10 round and number 4 round.
Kitchen towel
Provided by Cornwall School of Art if required

Kaye Parmenter
Kaye is an established artist from Somerset, who permanently exhibits in a number of galleries. Her achievements include winning the Chairman’s Choice award at the Bath and West Show 2009 and exhibiting in the Mall Galleries in London as part of the Art Liberating Lives Exhibition.
Find Out MoreOur courses usually begin at 10am and end at 4:30pm, with a half an hour lunch break at around 1pm. There will also be brief morning and afternoon breaks, with free tea and coffee available in the kitchen area. At Lunch time you can make things nice and easy by pre-ordering a freshly prepared Coach House Lunch. Alternatively, you’re very welcome to bring along a packed lunch and any other refreshments you like.
On sunny days students and tutors are invited to enjoy breaktimes outside in the leafy courtyard or gardens surrounded by birdsong.
