Cornwall School of Art is based in the heart of Cornwall, a short distance from the city of Truro. We are an independent art school offering a unique service in Cornwall – a programme of workshops ran by hand-picked nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, as well as talented Cornish-based artists. This enables us to offer our students top quality tuition and an ever-changing programme of courses. Our programme covers watercolour, acrylics, oils, pastels, printmaking and other creative crafts and subjects range from seascapes and landscapes to portraiture and abstracts.
Our school offers a fantastic studio with high ceilings, plenty of natural light and excellent facilities, and the surrounding landscaped gardens and rolling countryside makes it ideal for en plein air workshops.
A truely inspiring place to get creative.
We began facilitating art courses in 2012 above our independent art shop (Truro Arts Company) in the heart of Cornwall. Initially just a few local artists ran courses each year, but these proved so popular that our programme grew rapidly. We now offer around 60 courses a year, in a range of mediums and techniques. We are privileged to welcome hundreds of students to learn from local, national and even internationally renowned professional artists.
Thanks to the support of our students and tutors we outgrew our original studio, and in 2020 we moved to a beautiful new space just 8 minutes drive outside of Truro. The Coach House studio is part of a period property nestled in the Cornish countryside – it’s a wonderfully bright and spacious room with large french doors on both sides and high ceilings. Views out of the windows are across the pretty courtyards with large outdoor table for communal eating when weather permits. Flowers and birds are in abundance – the perfect relaxing and inspiring environment for creativity. There is a large kitchen adjacent to the studio with two sinks for brush cleaning, a toilet, and pretty summer house room with large table for communal coffees and lunches that overlooks the pretty gardens.
